50th Parallel was born out of a vision of empowerment and we use our social channels to carry that vision forward.

Over the years, we’ve shared posts amplifying underrepresented communities and businesses. Now, we’re building on that by launching a new series that spotlights people we believe deserve recognition in the media and communications space.

At the forefront of equity and communications, Cicely Belle is the founder of Black Lives Matter Vancouver and Bakau Consulting Inc., a global firm advancing inclusion through education, strategy and storytelling. As the author of Burning Sugar and Editorial Director of Ripple of Change Magazine, Cicely Belle continues to challenge systems, inspire dialogue and build spaces for transformative leadership.

Twenty-one years ago today, Indigenous Veterans Day was first recognized.

For too long, Indigenous soldiers fought for this country while their sacrifices went unrecognized on Remembrance Day.

That’s why today matters. It’s about giving those who served the respect and acknowledgement they deserve, not only for their bravery, but for the years their contributions went unseen.

November 2-8 is Treaties Recognition Week.

While it’s formally recognized in Ontario, it’s something we can, and should, observe across the country. This week is an opportunity to learn, listen and reflect on the treaties that shape the lands we live on.

Treaties are more than historic agreements, they are living commitments that uphold the rights and sovereignty of Indigenous Peoples. When these commitments are ignored, it impacts communities, lands and relationships across generations.

Understanding treaties is an essential part of reconciliation.

Today we’re celebrating two incredible milestones!

Three years ago, Stephanie joined us, moving from a contractor to our full-time Account Associate. Since then, she’s grown into our powerhouse Senior Account Associate who proves that the right words can move people and ideas forward.

Sara made the same leap that year, joining us as a full-time Graphic Designer after contracting with the team. Today she’s our Lead Graphic Designer, bringing ideas to life and turning visions into something real every single day.

The past few years have been shaped by the dedication, creativity and heart that both Stephanie and Sara bring to the team. We’re so grateful for everything they do.
