The Co-operative Housing Federation of BC has been an ongoing client for 50th Parallel PR since 2021. The focus has been on delivering branding, marketing, and content materials for various projects, including events like the Spring Forum, Direct to Mail Group Buying Campaigns, and other education-related initiatives.

This report focuses on the support provided for three 2024 events: The Spring Forum, the Fall Education Campaign, and the Annual General Meeting.  These projects carried significant work, particularly in the areas of branding and event-related materials. After a careful process of co-collaboration with the client, the materials were approved and the events were a success.

The CHF BC Spring Forum is an annual event that serves as both a semi-annual general meeting and an education conference for co-op members across BC. It offers workshops on various topics relevant to co-op living and management, plenary sessions and opportunities for networking and governance. The forum aims to educate members, foster community and shape the future of co-operative housing in BC, often launching new initiatives like the Centre for Co-operative Learning.

A pivotal annual gathering for housing co-ops and their members, the CHF BC Fall Education Conference helps navigate the evolving landscape of co-op living. It features workshops and plenaries designed to foster continuous learning and conversation, covering topics like governance, community building and adapting to changes. The conference provides a crucial space for members to share ideas and experiences, aiming to strengthen co-op communities and ensure their long-term vibrancy.

As the most crucial yearly gathering for member housing co-ops in BC, the CHF BC Annual General Meeting (AGM) serves as the primary opportunity for members to engage in the federation’s governance. Key activities at this meeting include receiving reports from the Board of Directors and the auditor, reviewing the audited financial statements, appointing the auditor for the upcoming year and electing new directors to the board. This event is vital for ensuring transparency, accountability and member participation in shaping the direction and future of the co-operative housing movement in BC.
