The holiday season means something different to everyone. For some, it’s the first snowfall and making a snowman, for others it’s sipping hot cocoa by a roaring fire or putting up decorations.

We asked the 50th team when it feels like the holidays to them. Swipe to see their responses!

What makes it feel like the holiday season for you? Let us know in the comments!

December is filled with festivities, as many people celebrate numerous cultural holidays around the world. You may recognize a few holidays celebrated here in Canada, but did you know that even how people celebrate these popular holidays can vary depending on their cultural background and traditions?

For example, in Slovakia, carp is a common Christmas dish, decorating trees and boats is a common tradition in Greece and there are 13 Icelandic Santas, called the Yule Lads.

Check out the images above for a list of holidays that will be celebrated this month!

What is “earned media?”

Simply put, earned media is material written about you or your brand that wasn’t paid for or created yourself. This type of content is garnered through media attention, word of mouth or through organic posts on social media.

Earned media is incredibly effective today as consumers are greatly influenced by their friends and family as well as what they read online.

A successful strategy to generate earned media is created through effective media relations. Want to know how it can benefit your brand? Visit our website at the link in our bio.

We know what you’re thinking: "There’s no way my community organization could get media attention."

We’re here to tell you that yes it can! It doesn’t matter how big or small or how well-known your organization is, getting media pick-up is about the message, the strategy and media relations.

Whether you’re a local community organization that wants to make a big environmental impact, a non-profit focused on helping underserved populations or an Indigenous community reclaiming its culture and identity, your story can garner national media attention.

And we can help. Head to the link in our bio or send us a DM for more information!

Shopping local keeps money in the community, supports neighbourhood character and builds a sense of community.

In June, we shared the exciting news that 50th Parallel PR became B Corp certified, joining more than 7,700 companies in a global movement for an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economy.

Today, we’d like to shine a light on some of the team’s favourite B Corp retailers in Canada. These businesses, like us, are focused on making real, intentional and meaningful change, using business as a force for good.

Swipe through to check out a few of our favourite B Corps.
