Graphic Design Contractor

Calling all Independent Contractors! 

50th Parallel Public Relations is hiring a Graphic Design Contractor to work with our team in Victoria. The successful candidate will work with our team on a project-by-project and will develop high-quality creative for an array of clients. We work with Indigenous communities, non-profit organizations, government agencies and purpose-driven private companies to support communications efforts.

50th Parallel Public Relations is currently hiring for multiple contractor roles as well as building a contact list for future projects. While the future of our team is in our Victoria office, remote positions are a possibility for the right candidate within BC. Contractor roles are by necessity remote, but present the opportunity to scale into a full-time employment position as we grow our in-house team so proximity to the Victoria office is an asset! 

The exact time commitment for this opportunity will be determined on an as needed basis, dependent on projects and client needs.

Working with the team at 50th Parallel Public Relations Inc., your responsibilities might include:

As a Graphic Design Contractor you will be part of the creative process, working with our in-house Designer, and other team members, to deliver high-quality creative solutions for our clients.

  • Execute the creative design and production of a wide variety of print, digital and interactive marketing and advertising campaign deliverables.
  • Leverage templates and brand principles to create and/or modify artwork.
  • Assist in reference gathering, mood board, client branding and style guide creation.
  • Collaborate with the internal team through clear communication, collaboration and project management to meet the clients needs and strategic objectives.
  • Prepare creative assets and content including print and digital media, web design, branding, templates reports, presentations, correspondences and other materials related to PR and marketing materials.
  • Work within set time budgets and deadlines.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

 


Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 2.5 years of professional design or brand design experience.
  • Prior experience with multi-page print design and booklet layout.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Premiere Pro, Canva, and Figma a plus.
  • Proven ability to apply design skills (ideation, colour theory, typography, imagery, pixel perfect layouts, texture, etc.) across print and digital platforms (mobile, desktop, tablet).
  • A portfolio that demonstrates quality visual and graphic design skills, including typography, and layout across print and digital platforms including motion, and social.
  • Degree in and/or proven knowledge in Graphic Design; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Bonus: Background in marketing/branding or agency experience.
  • Bonus: Professional photography, illustration or animation experience.

  • Ability to gracefully work on multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadline pressure with strong time management and organizational skills.

  • Proven ability to exceed personal goals and client expectations.
  • Works well both independently and collaboratively.
  • Highly motivated with a passion for innovation and drive to build better processes and improve efficiencies.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Highly organized with outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong project management skills – able to build, track, and execute on processes from start to finish independently, staying within and accurately quoting time budgets for projects.
  • Ability to self-manage and adjust to rapidly changing priorities.
